Mines Golf Course

America’s Best New Courses (Public Under $75), January, 2007 Golf Digest

The Mines Golf Club is a new 18-hole, public golf course with a full practice facility, including driving range, short game area, and the 9-hole par three Miners Course. It is located above a portion of the old gypsum mines, five minutes from the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The site features mature hardwoods, rolling terrain, and sandy soils. The main course is 6701 yards, par 70, and the par three Miners Course will include holes from 80-230 yards long to provide a full spectrum of shots to players.

“The Mines offers a different kind of challenge. And to DeVries’ credit, the courses of his I’ve played are not cookie cutter designs or routed over questionable land formations. The Mines, literally on the outskirts of downtown Grand Rapids, will get ample play and the practice facility is second to none.” Randy Prichard (Michigan Golf, Vol. 7, No. 2, 2005, p. 6)
